Vail Powder Day. More than just an experience

Vail is the most visited resort in North America because it offers over 5,000 acres of skiable terrain, the lightest powder snow and an experience of a lifetime. When the perfect storm comes through the Vail Valley everyone has their eye on the prize.

BlueSkyPowderDay

The prize is how many powder turns can you get in.

This week was the best snow of the year. As of today, Vail received 12″ in the last 24 hours, 17″ in the last 48 hours and 29″ in the last 7 days. That’s almost 3 feet of snow in the last week!

There is so much snow that the Eagle County Schools actually did something that they had only done twice since 1990…They closed the schools.

Let’s talk about knee high powder and yes, the light fluffy kind.

BlueSkyThere are many routes that snow lovers take when they get to Vail. Gondola 1>Chair 4>Headwall. Chair 7>Chair2>Ouzo Glade. Riva Bahn Express>Chair 11>Yonder. Whatever your route you are never disappointed.

Undeniably, most skiers and snowboarders set their sights on the backbowls. There are over 7 miles and 7 bowls of AWESOME terrain to explore.

On this particular day you could not find a bad run. The snow on Vail Mountain was deep and the snow on the backside was even deeper.

After getting some serious leg burn our adventures continued to Blue Sky Basin. The snow in Pete’s Bowl was deep and we enjoyed our fair share.

LiftLine

BlueSkyPano

On this day, Vail offered knee deep snow but the best part was there were no lift lines. It was truly an EPIC day. Vail Mountain was our snow filled paradise. When all was said and done, we were tired but our faces showed permagrins and the days’ stories played out as we enjoyed aprés ski in the Vail Village.
